OK, I might need a better name.

I go into a lot of restaurants as part of my job. Oftentimes the place will be run by a couple who “always loved to cook” or “got this great recipe from their grandmother” or, my personal favorite “Some friends tried my (insert mundane food here) and said I should open a restaurant.” By the time friends I’m cooking for actually get fed they’re usually loaded, but I guess those are just my friends. more »

In these difficult economic times we all know how important it is to protect ourselves against the Swoop and Squat insurance scam. This widely-hyped con, purportedly on the rise as people look for ways to make money that also involve potential life-ending injury, consists in the scammer pulling directly in front of a car and slamming on the brakes causing an accident that appears to be the victim’s fault.

When you’ve lost a loved one one of the most difficult things to do is dispose of their belongings. Sure, it’s pretty easy to distribute the jewelry and other obvious heirlooms but what about the mounds of knickknacks, letters and quasi-personal papers that no one wants responsibility for or responsibility for throwing out?
